krishna janmashtami story

According to religious scriptures, Shri Krishna was born in Mathura on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. According to the legend, Kasam snatched the throne of his father Ugrasen king and imprisoned him and would declare himself the king of Mathura. Kansa had a sister named Devaki. He was very fond of Devaki. Kasam got Devaki married to Vasudeva. But when he was sending off Devaki, there was an Akashvani that Devaki's eighth son would kill Kansa. Hearing Akashvani, he got scared and put Devaki and Vasudeva in prison. After this the cruel Kansa killed the 7 children of Devaki and Vasudeva. But when Devaki's eighth child was about to be born, there was lightning in the sky. According to the belief, at 12 midnight, all the locks of the jail were broken on their own and all the soldiers monitoring there fell into a deep sleep.

They all fell asleep. It is said that at that time Lord Vishnu appeared and told him to Vasudeva-Devaki that he would be born from Devaki's womb. After this he said that he should leave him i.e. his incarnation to Nanda Baba in Gokul and bring the girl born in his house to Mathura and hand it over to Kansa. After this Vasudeva did as the Lord said. He left Kanha with Nanda Baba and handed over the girl brought from Gokul to Kansa. Nanda and Yashoda raised Shri Krishna and Shri Krishna killed Kansa. On the occasion of Janmashtami, people worship Shri Krishna and celebrate this festival with pomp. was handed over to Kansa. Nanda and Yashoda raised Shri Krishna and Shri Krishna killed Kansa. On the occasion of Janmashtami, people worship Shri Krishna and celebrate this festival with pomp. was handed over to Kansa. Nanda and Yashoda raised Shri Krishna and Shri Krishna killed Kansa. On the occasion of Janmashtami, people worship Shri Krishna and celebrate this festival with pomp.
